Surviving in Turbulent Times - October 2008

What Can You Do?..Thrive, Don't Just Survive.

With markets in turmoil, your employees' fears and concerns often shift their focus away from the company.

Aligning your employees' vision and business focus with the organization's priorities is key to surviving and keeping employees focused on the company.

In the last downturn, enlightened companies took immediate steps to reassess their priorities, improve processes, and invest in their people. As a result, these visionary organizations emerged with a substantial competitive advantage over those companies which failed to refocus their employees thinking and skills

Business simulations have proven to be a very effective and timely tool for teaching new skills and enabling employees to stay focused on competitive success. As flight simulators enable pilots to learn to fly a 777 without risk or catastrophic consequences, business simulations enable adults to learn safely through experience.

If your people understand where your organization wants to go - and why - they will take you there!

What if:

  • all your employees acted like they owned the company?
  • all your employees could understand and embrace your Key Performance Indicators?
  • you could experiment with different strategies without risk?
  • you could increase competence without spending weeks in training?
  • your employees could get a hands-on experience improving sales and performance?

Testimonials
Marguerite Foxon, Principal Performance Technologist at Motorola University stated,
"With these simulations, we're getting a bargain for our training dollars. We have documented significant impact on critical business issues through simulations that run for less than two days."

"In one of our factories we came up with £1 million worth of potential improvements as a direct result of the Celemi business simulation."
Manager, GlaxoSmithKline

"Everyone is thinking like business owners. That means future decisions will be made based on sound business thinking, which should improve the financial picture much quicker."
Internal consultant, Principal Financial Group

"You know the program is effective when people from manufacturing, sales and marketing become sensitive to each other's needs and understand how the other operation works."
Manager, 3M

"It was great to see so many of our managers engaged in Celemi Tango. The key issues that Tango focuses on are so real in our business today."
CEO, Cap Gemini UK

How Do Simulations Work?
Our simulations are hands-on and interactive - not lectures. In a simulation teams of 3 to 5 employees determine a strategic focus and manage all the assets of their simulated company (customers, partners, marketing, human resource, financial, and internal processes). They plan and allocate resources, satisfy demanding customers and employees, make decisions under conditions of uncertainty and time constraints, manage through critical market events, prepare and report financial statements, and communicate to the larger market about their company.
